Why in News: Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan held a virtual review with Madhya Pradesh’s Agriculture and Horticulture Ministers from Krishi Bhawan, New Delhi, on 27 August 2026, on summer moong procurement and crop insurance.

What happened: The Centre first approved 4,54,580 metric tonnes of summer moong procurement for Madhya Pradesh for the 2026 season and later sanctioned an additional 84,492 MT, taking the ceiling to 5,39,072 MT. Actual procurement closed at about 5.33 lakh MT, within that ceiling. The additional sanction imposed no financial burden on the state.

Procurement ran mainly through NAFED and NCCF under the Price Support Scheme. For comparison, in summer 2025 the approved quantity was 4,19,692 MT against actual procurement of 3,93,123.79 MT, so both the sanction and the offtake have risen materially.

The meeting also reviewed the term sheet for the Restructured Weather Based Crop Insurance Scheme and the rollout of WINDS, the Weather Information Network and Data System, which remains pending in Madhya Pradesh.

2. High Court Restores Rs 2,400 Grade Pay for Contractual Data Entry Operators

Why in News: The Gwalior Bench of the High Court of Madhya Pradesh dismissed the state government’s appeal on 27 August 2026 and upheld the grant of Rs 2,400 grade pay to more than 50,000 contractual data entry operators.

What happened: The court held that the reduction of their grade pay to Rs 1,900 was wrong. The ruling affects a large body of long-serving contractual staff across state departments, for whom the contractual designation had kept pay below the corresponding regular scale.

Madhya Pradesh Relevance:

  • Prelims: Grade pay restored to Rs 2,400; the disputed lower figure was Rs 1,900; beneficiaries number over 50,000; the state’s appeal was dismissed.
  • Prelims: The High Court of Madhya Pradesh has its principal seat at Jabalpur, with benches at Gwalior and Indore. 3. LAPP Makes Its Bhopal Works the Largest Plant in Its Global Network

Why in News: The German cable and connectivity manufacturer LAPP inaugurated a major expansion of LAPP Cable Works, Bhopal, on 27 August 2026, making it the largest manufacturing facility in the company’s global production network.

What happened: The new build is a dedicated low-voltage (LV) power cable facility, with construction begun in 2025 and the unit becoming fully operational on 27 August. Group CEO Matthias Lapp framed the expansion under an “in India for India” strategy, describing India as a strategic core market in Asia and Madhya Pradesh as a manufacturing location of choice.

The Bhopal site opened in 2012 and has moved up the capability ladder in stages: single-core cables, then multicore, then solar cables, then compounding, and now E-Beam technology. The company’s release cited national infrastructure investment of roughly Rs 24 lakh crore across the current and next financial year, and projected renewable capacity additions of 50 to 55 GW annually, as the demand drivers for low-voltage cable.

4. CM Inaugurates Godrej Consumer Products’ Fourth Malanpur Unit in Bhind

Why in News: CM Dr Mohan Yadav inaugurated the fourth integrated manufacturing unit of Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL) at Malanpur, Bhind district, on 26 August 2026.

What happened: GCPL has operated at Malanpur since 1991. The 65-acre site now carries a cumulative investment of about Rs 850 crore. The expansion makes the complex one of the largest integrated soap manufacturing sites in India by reported capacity, with production capability cited at up to 4,000 soap bars per minute, site output of roughly 2 lakh tonnes, and expected turnover from the facility of about Rs 3,800 crore.

Two figures are contested and must be attributed rather than stated flat. The investment in the new unit is given as “over Rs 480 crore” in GCPL’s own release but as Rs 450 crore in state-side reporting. Employment is variously reported as over 600 direct jobs, as a workforce rising from 2,200 to 2,800, and as 2,250 jobs, with no reconciled figure. Quote the source or omit the number.

Why in News: The Madhya Pradesh Employees Selection Board (MPESB) issued its Group-3 combined recruitment notification on 27 August 2026 for 1,700 posts, with applications opening on 29 August.

What happened: The notification covers 132 post codes across 48 departments, authorities, boards, corporations and government institutions. Posts include Sub Engineer, Draftsman, Mineral Surveyor, Surveyor, Laboratory Technician, Technical Assistant, Computer Operator, Junior Instructor, Demonstrator and Assistant Architectural Draftsman.

The online application window runs from 29 August to 12 September 2026, with corrections permitted until 17 September, and the examination scheduled from 7 October 2026. The age range is 18 to 40 years, computed as of 2026, on 1 January, with relaxation generally to 45 for Madhya Pradesh candidates in the Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Other Backward Class, women and other notified categories.
