1. CM Mohan Yadav Returns from Dubai with Rs 53,000 Crore Investment Proposals

Why in News: Chief Minister Mohan Yadav returned on 8 September 2026 from a three-day visit to the UAE (6 to 8 September 2026), bringing investment proposals valued at approximately Rs 53,000 crore for Madhya Pradesh. Dubai assured that a delegation would visit the state to explore possibilities in tourism, hospitality and aviation, and to participate in the Global Investors Summit (GIS) 2027 to be held in Bhopal.

Key details of the visit. The Chief Minister met senior UAE ministers and representatives of companies including DP World, the Sharaf Group, BEEAH and GEMS Education, each of which expressed interest in cooperation and investment in different sectors. The World Bank showed interest in cooperation in Artificial Intelligence and Digital Governance projects. The Chief Minister extended invitations for GIS 2027 to more than 20 countries, including Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Morocco, Qatar and the UAE.

What GIS is. The Global Investors Summit is a flagship investment-promotion conclave held by the Government of Madhya Pradesh every two to three years. Previous editions in 2023 (Indore) and earlier cycles attracted investment pledges that were subsequently tracked for ground conversion. The 2027 summit is planned for Bhopal.

UPSC/MPPSC angle. Investment promotion visits by Chief Ministers are examined for the institutional framework of investor facilitation, the role of investment summits in state competition for FDI/domestic capital, and specific sectors such as tourism and aviation infrastructure.

2. MP Police Constable Recruitment 2026: 7,500 Vacancies Notified, No Agniveer Quota

Why in News: The Employee Selection Board (ESB) notified recruitment for 7,500 Madhya Pradesh Police constable posts on 10 September 2026, with applications opening from 22 September 2026 and the examination scheduled to begin from 19 November 2026. The notification confirmed that no special provision has been made for the Agniveer quota, despite earlier indications that around 10 per cent reservation might be given to Agniveers.

Break-up of the 7,500 posts. Of the total, 700 posts are reserved exclusively for men under the Special Armed Forces (SAF). The remaining 6,800 posts under the general duty (GD) category are divided as follows:

Within the reserved categories: SC 1,088, ST 1,360, OBC 952, EWS 680.

Other notable points. Third-gender candidates may apply on production of a district magistrate’s certificate, in either the male or the female category. Non-domicile applicants can apply in the open category. CM Mohan Yadav had earlier announced that constable recruitment would be completed before Simhastha 2028, the Kumbh Mela held at Ujjain.

The Agniveer angle. The Agnipath scheme (launched 2022) creates short-tenure military personnel called Agniveers. Several state governments announced preferences for Agniveers in police recruitment. Madhya Pradesh’s notification does not carry such a provision.

3. BHEL Bhopal Land Monetisation: 1,100 Acres to Be Developed in Phases, City Forest Planned

Why in News: A high-level meeting chaired by Sanjay Dubey, Additional Chief Secretary (Urban Development) resolved on 10 September 2026 that approximately 1,100 acres of vacant and encroached land belonging to BHEL in Bhopal would be monetised in phases. A portion of the land, situated in the middle of the city, will be developed as a city forest. Proceeds from monetisation will be split 50 per cent for BHEL and 50 per cent for the state government.

Institutional mechanism. The land available for monetisation would be transferred to a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), through which development projects would be planned and implemented. The urban administration department will hold the right to determine land use, Floor Area Ratio and land industry parameters to maximise income. All decisions require the consent of both the state government and the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing. A nominated institute will oversee the process from project draft to final implementation.

Who attended the meeting. The meeting was attended by Chief Managing Director of BHEL K. Sadashiv Murli, Executive Director (HR) BHEL New Delhi M. Shridhar, BHEL Bhopal Executive Director P.K. Upadhyay and Bhopal Collector Karmveer Sharma.

Why BHEL Bhopal matters. BHEL’s Bhopal unit, established in 1956, manufactures heavy electrical equipment and is one of the oldest public-sector undertakings in the Madhya Pradesh capital. Large tracts of land that were originally earmarked for industrial expansion have remained vacant or have been encroached upon, raising questions of public asset utilisation.

4. Bhoj Wetland Ground-Truthing: NGT Team Documents Encroachments Near Kaliasot FTL

Why in News: On 10 September 2026, the National Green Tribunal’s ground-truthing team completed Day 5 of its survey of the Bhoj Wetland in Bhopal, documenting a road, restaurants and commercial structures near the Flood Transition Line (FTL) of Kaliasot, along with boundary markers being installed for land plotting on the Kaliasot banks.

What the team found. Near WALMI (Water and Land Management Institute) in Ward 26 at Khudaganj village, water was found extending beyond several existing FTL markers, suggesting that the old boundary stones no longer reflect the actual water spread. A road was found passing through the catchment zone of Kaliasot, and commercial structures were located within or close to the wetland boundary. Petitioner Rashid Noor Khan stated that ground-truthing must establish old markers, actual water levels, FTL and natural water flow legally to prevent exploitation of technical loopholes.

The Kerwa Dam complication. The team could not survey Kerwa Dam as it has not yet reached Full Tank Level; bridge construction nearby causes continuous outflow. The team will submit a report on Kerwa to the NGT on 15 September 2026, after which further directions will follow. The Madhya Pradesh Pollution Control Board regional officer confirmed Kaliasot ground-truthing is complete.

Why the Bhoj Wetland matters for MPPSC. The Bhoj Wetland comprises the Upper Lake (Bhojtal) and the Lower Lake at Bhopal, and was designated a Ramsar site in 2002. It is the principal drinking water source for the Bhopal city. The Upper Lake was attributed to Raja Bhoj of the Paramara dynasty in the 11th century. The Bhadbhada dam is its outflow structure.

Why in News: Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT), Bhopal is gearing up for its 15th edition of Tooryanaad, a three-day national cultural and technical festival. More than 4,000 students from over 22 states are expected to participate, competing across 12 flagship events spanning literature, music, dance, theatre and debate, with prizes worth Rs 2 lakh. The event opens with a performance by Rajasthan folk artist Mame Khan and his band Rock N Roots.

The theme and activities. The festival is centred on the theme Bharat: Arya, Adhyatma, Abhyudaya (India: Heritage, Spirituality and Progress), aimed at celebrating Indian culture, spiritual legacy and national pride.
