Welcome to the Ujiyari Madhya Pradesh Current Affairs notes for 6 September 2026, prepared for MPPSC State Service and other Madhya Pradesh government examinations. 1. Indore Metro Extended Corridor Inaugurated, Network Reaches 17.5 km
Why in News: The extended Indore Metro corridor was inaugurated at the Brilliant Convention Centre, Vijay Nagar, Indore on 5 September 2026 by Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar, with Chief Minister Mohan Yadav present. Regular passenger services on the extended stretch began on 6 September 2026.
What opened. The corridor runs from SC-3 / Gandhi Nagar to Malviya Nagar Square, also identified as Radisson Hotel Chowraha. The operational network rises from about 6.3 km to 17.5 km, across 16 stations, at a project cost of about ₹2,850 crore. This is the first time the Indore Metro reaches into the city core rather than serving only the peripheral Super Corridor stretch.
Service pattern. Trains run from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 15-minute headways, with more than 80 daily trips. Ticketing is through the MPMRCL app and an Automatic Fare Collection system accepting UPI, QR codes and e-wallets, with a 5 per cent discount on return tickets, 10 per cent on group tickets and 8 to 15 per cent bonuses on e-wallet recharges.
The institutional structure, which MPPSC asks about. The Indore Metro is implemented by the Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MPMRCL), the special purpose vehicle constituted for metro projects in the state. Under the Metro Rail Policy, 2017, metro projects are typically taken up as joint ventures between the Union government and the state government, with equity shared and the balance met through external assistance and other sources, and the policy requires a last-mile connectivity plan and an assessment of alternative mass transit options before approval.

2. Six Madhya Pradesh Teachers Receive the National Teachers Awards
Why in News: President Droupadi Murmu conferred the National Teachers Awards 2026 on 82 educators at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on 5 September 2026, Teachers’ Day. Six of the awardees are from Madhya Pradesh.
The Madhya Pradesh awardees are Archana Shukla, Shailendra Pratap Singh, Sangeeta Yadav, Sourav Datta, Reena Gupta and Jyotibala Rathore.
What they were recognised for.

The national composition. The 82 comprise 48 school teachers from the Department of School Education and Literacy, 21 from higher educational institutions and polytechnics, and 13 skill trainers from the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. The 48 school teachers were drawn from 27 states, 7 Union Territories and 6 Central Government organisations, and included 26 men and 22 women. Selection runs through a three-stage district, state and national process conducted online.

3. State Teachers’ Felicitation, and TET to Be Held Offline for the First Time
Why in News: At the state-level Teachers’ Felicitation Ceremony 2026 at the RCVP Noronha Academy of Administration and Management, Bhopal on 5 September 2026, Governor Mangubhai Patel and Chief Minister Mohan Yadav felicitated 33 teachers, honoured jointly by the Tribal Affairs and School Education departments. The Chief Minister announced that the Teacher Eligibility Test will be conducted in offline mode for the first time in Madhya Pradesh.
The background to the test. The examination is being conducted following a Supreme Court direction of May 2026 requiring primary and secondary teachers appointed between 1998 and 2009 to clear the Teacher Eligibility Test. It is being conducted by the Employees Selection Board (ESB), with a fee of ₹1,000.
The participation problem. Only about 2,500 of nearly 1.5 lakh eligible teachers had applied, and the application deadline was accordingly extended to 18 September, with a correction window to 20 September. Teachers’ associations have opposed the ₹1,000 fee on the argument that the state should bear a cost arising from a court direction rather than the individual teacher.
The Chief Minister also said that more than half the students appearing on Madhya Pradesh Board merit lists come from government schools.
Where the TET requirement comes from. Under the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009, the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) lays down minimum qualifications for teachers, and passing a Teacher Eligibility Test is among them. The question of whether the requirement applies to teachers already in service at the time the norms were notified has been the subject of extended litigation.

4. Bhoomi Pujan of Shri Parshuram Lok and Shri Krishna Lok at Janapav
Why in News: On Janmashtami, 4 September 2026, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav performed the bhoomi pujan of the Shri Parshuram Lok and Shri Krishna Lok projects at Janapav, near Mhow in Indore district, to be developed at a cost of about ₹17 crore.
What is planned. The project follows the model of Ujjain’s Mahakal Lok and covers redevelopment of the Yagya Kund, a grand auditorium, meditation cottages, a herbal garden, landscaping, a multipurpose building and construction of a ropeway.
Why Janapav matters in the state’s geography and tradition. Janapav lies in the Vindhya range in Indore district and is described in tradition as the birthplace of Maharishi Parashuram and as the origin of “seven and a half rivers”, and as the site where Krishna is held to have received the Sudarshan Chakra from Parashuram. Janapav is the source of the Chambal, which is the fact most frequently tested.
The wider policy. The Chief Minister said all places in Madhya Pradesh associated with Lord Krishna and Lord Ram would be developed as pilgrimage sites, naming Chitrakoot Dham, sites associated with the Rukmini Haran episode, and war sites in Dhar district.

5. UDISE+ 2025-26: Madhya Pradesh Records the Largest Number of School Closures and Mergers
Why in News: UDISE+ 2025-26 data shows Madhya Pradesh accounting for 2,426 of the 4,791 school closures and mergers recorded nationally in 2025-26, the highest of any state. The figures entered public debate through a letter written to the Chief Minister on 4 September 2026 by the state Congress president, Jitu Patwari, seeking district-wise, block-wise and school-wise details.
The numbers as recorded.

Read the two rows together. The number of schools fell by about 2,400 while the number of teachers rose by about 10,000. That combination is the signature of rationalisation, the merger of small or low-enrolment schools into larger ones, rather than of contraction of the school system as such. The policy argument for rationalisation is that a merged school can offer subject teachers, laboratories and libraries that a single-teacher school cannot.
The counter-argument is about distance. Merging schools increases the distance a child must travel, and under the Right to Education Act, 2009 neighbourhood-school norms require a primary school within 1 km and an upper primary school within 3 km of a habitation. The effect falls hardest in sparsely populated tribal and forest areas, and the risk is concentrated among girls and the youngest children.
What is asked for. The letter also raised a 13 per cent dropout rate for Classes 9 and 10 and discrepancies between state education portal enrolment figures and UDISE+ figures. The state government’s response had not been recorded at the time of reporting.

Why in News: A well-marked low-pressure area over north-west Madhya Pradesh brought widespread rain across the state, with Bhopal recording 65.2 mm on Saturday and the Bhadbhada Dam gates opened after the Upper Lake reached its Full Tank Level.
The spread. Among the heaviest falls reported were Bairad 152 mm, Pohri 145 mm and Shivpuri 135 mm. Seasonal rainfall for the state stood at about 947.4 mm against a normal of about 1,050 mm.

The Upper Lake is the principal source of drinking water for Bhopal. The Bhadbhada dam is its outflow structure, and its gates are opened when the lake reaches Full Tank Level to regulate the level and protect the embankment.
