Welcome to the Madhya Pradesh Current Affairs edition for 07 July 2026, prepared for MPPSC Prelims and Mains aspirants. Today’s roundup covers the revived Chita Andolan (pyre protest) by tribal families displaced by the Ken-Betwa Link Project, the foundation of Adani Defence’s Rs 2,500 crore missile-manufacturing complex at Shivpuri, the bhoomi pujan of the Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee Smart Industrial Park at Satgarhi in Bhopal, the continuing monsoon fury across the state, and MP’s 24x7 Renewable Energy Mission. Each item carries background, MPPSC relevance and a Prelims fact table.

1. Chita Andolan Revived: Tribal Families Protest Ken-Betwa Displacement

Why in News: On 6 July 2026, displaced tribal families resumed the symbolic Chita Andolan (pyre protest) near the Barana river close to Kupi village in Chhatarpur district, against the Ken-Betwa Link Project and other projects, under the slogan “Nyay Do Ya Mar Do” (give us justice or let us die).

Background: The Ken-Betwa Link Project is India’s first river-interlinking project, connecting the Ken river in the Bundelkhand region to the Betwa, with the Daudhan dam inside the Panna Tiger Reserve. Protesters, led largely by tribal women, allege that assurances given after the earlier April 2026 agitation went unfulfilled, and that affected families faced evictions, electricity disconnections and legal action. They warn the project could submerge parts of the Panna Tiger Reserve, affect the Ken ecosystem, and lead to loss of lakhs of trees. The agitation also covers families hit by the Majhgay, Runjh and Naiguwa irrigation projects and NTPC works in Chhatarpur and Panna districts. This connects to Madhya Pradesh geography, tribal rights and river-interlinking policy.

MPPSC Relevance: Prelims Ken-Betwa Link Project, Daudhan dam, Panna Tiger Reserve, Bundelkhand, Chita Andolan. Mains GS1 tribal displacement and society; GS3 environment, rehabilitation and river interlinking.

2. Adani Defence Lays Foundation for Rs 2,500 Crore Missile Hub at Shivpuri

Why in News: On 5 July 2026, CM Mohan Yadav and Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia laid the foundation for a Rs 2,500 crore Adani Defence and Aerospace manufacturing complex at Shivpuri, described as one of South Asia’s largest private-sector missile ecosystems.

Background: The facility will manufacture ammunition, mission-ready missiles, sophisticated weapons and high-tech defence equipment, and is expected to provide around 5,000 direct and indirect jobs while integrating local MSMEs into the defence supply chain. It marks Madhya Pradesh’s formal entry into the defence-manufacturing sector, supporting the Atmanirbhar Bharat push in defence. The Adani Group has announced a broader investment of about Rs 1,10,000 crore in MP across pumped-hydro storage, cement, mining, logistics and thermal energy, targeting roughly 1,20,000 jobs by 2030. This connects to Madhya Pradesh industrial policy, defence self-reliance and regional development in the Chambal region. Shivpuri lies in the Gwalior-Chambal region and was historically part of the Scindia domain.

MPPSC Relevance: Prelims Adani Defence Shivpuri complex, Atmanirbhar Bharat in defence, Gwalior-Chambal region. Mains GS3 defence manufacturing, industrialisation and employment; GS2 Centre-State industrial promotion.

Background: The park will be developed over 173 acres at Satgarhi with AI-enabled infrastructure, logistics facilities, warehouses and modern industrial utilities, promoting manufacturing, IT, AI, garments, toys, logistics and emerging technologies. It is expected to generate over 15,000 direct and indirect jobs and anchor a new industrial corridor around the state capital. A modern convention centre with a 10,000 seating capacity, the largest in the state, will come up over 25 acres. The site lies about 25 km from Raja Bhoj Airport and 15 km from Rani Kamalapati Railway Station, with the proposed Western Bypass passing through the area. This connects to Madhya Pradesh urban and industrial planning and investment promotion.

4. Monsoon Fury Continues: Rivers in Spate Across Madhya Pradesh

Why in News: Between 5 and 7 July 2026, the India Meteorological Department maintained heavy-rain alerts across Madhya Pradesh as monsoon rains kept several rivers, including the Narmada, Shipra and Chambal-basin streams, running high.

Background: Driven by a low-pressure system over the northwest Bay of Bengal, the IMD flagged very heavy rain for eastern and southern districts, with the swollen Shipra rising near Ram Ghat at Ujjain and rivers overflowing in Harda, Sehore and Narmadapuram. Waterlogging was reported in Indore and Mhow. The IMD colour-coded hierarchy runs green, yellow, orange and red in rising severity. CM Mohan Yadav had earlier directed an enhanced flood-alert mechanism with continuous river-level monitoring for vulnerable districts. This connects to Madhya Pradesh geography, the southwest monsoon, drainage systems and disaster management.

MPPSC Relevance: Prelims IMD colour alerts, Shipra and Narmada rivers, Bay of Bengal low-pressure systems. Mains GS1 Indian monsoon and drainage; GS3 disaster management and preparedness.

5. Madhya Pradesh 24x7 Renewable Energy Mission

Why in News: In early July 2026, Madhya Pradesh advanced its 24x7 Renewable Energy Mission, a green-power push led by CM Mohan Yadav to supply round-the-clock renewable electricity.

Background: The mission aims to blend solar, wind and storage so that renewable power is available continuously rather than only in daylight or windy hours, moving the state toward its clean-energy and net-zero goals. Madhya Pradesh already hosts the Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Park, one of Asia’s largest, and the Agar, Shajapur and Neemuch solar parks, and is developing pumped-hydro storage with the Adani Group. The push complements the state’s industrial expansion by promising firm, low-carbon power to new parks and factories. This connects to Madhya Pradesh energy policy, renewable resources and sustainable development.
