1. CM Yadav Launches Rs 184.83 Crore Projects in Panna District

Why in News: Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav visited Panna district on 24 July 2026 and performed the bhoomi poojan and lokarpan of development works worth Rs 184.83 crore.

Background: The package covers four road projects, a Diamond Museum for Panna, which is India’s principal diamond-mining district, a Joint Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Office building at Panna, an upgraded Science Block at Chhatrasal Post Graduate (PG) College, and a set of urban development and water management works taken up under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban), or SBM-U. At the same programme the Chief Minister transferred more than Rs 210 crore to over 35 lakh social security pension beneficiaries across Madhya Pradesh through a single-click Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). He also announced four new fast-track courts, to be set up at Indore, Bhopal, Gwalior and Jabalpur, to speed up the disposal of cases relating to education and employment matters concerning young people.

2. Rs 3,300 Crore Transferred to Over 82 Lakh Farmers at Khandwa

Why in News: Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav transferred more than Rs 3,300 crore to over 82 lakh farmers under the Mukhyamantri Kisan Kalyan Yojana (MKKY) on 27 July 2026 through a single-click Direct Benefit Transfer at Khandwa.

Background: The transfer was made at the state-level Balram Krishi Mahotsav held at the new Agricultural Produce Market complex in Khandwa district, and worked out to roughly Rs 4,000 for each of the more than 82 lakh beneficiaries. The Mukhyamantri Kisan Kalyan Yojana is a state supplement to the central Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN), paid to eligible landholding farmers in instalments through the year by DBT. The Balram Krishi Mahotsav was launched from Indore on 15 July 2026 in what the state government has declared the Kisan Kalyan Varsh, or Farmer Welfare Year, 2026, and is being carried across all districts as a multi-month campaign built on an integrated action plan involving 16 departments. At Khandwa, progressive farmers were felicitated and an exhibition of agricultural machinery and modern farm technology was staged.

3. Mukundpur White Tiger Safari Cleared for Near Doubling

Why in News: The state government cleared a master plan on 27 July 2026 to expand the Maharaja Martand Singh Judeo White Tiger Safari and Zoo, Mukundpur, from 121.99 hectares to 241.86 hectares.

Background: The master plan, drawn up for the period 2026-27 to 2045-46, adds 119.87 hectares to the existing 121.99 hectares. Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla, who represents Rewa, reviewed the plan at the state secretariat and directed officials to implement it in a time-bound manner in line with the guidelines of the Central Zoo Authority (CZA). The expansion provides for naturalistic animal enclosures, conservation breeding centres, wildlife rescue facilities, improved visitor amenities and an interactive education centre, with the stated aim of building a conservation, breeding and eco-tourism hub for the Vindhya region. No cost figure has been released. Mukundpur lies in Maihar district, which was carved out of Satna district in 2023, within Rewa division, about 15 km from Rewa city. The facility is named after Maharaja Martand Singh Judeo of Rewa, who captured the world’s first known white tiger, Mohan, in 1951; nearly all white tigers in captivity today descend from Mohan. The zoo was set up in 2015 and opened to the public in April 2016 as India’s first dedicated white tiger safari.

4. NMC Serves Notices on 18 MP Medical Colleges Over ABDM Lapses

Why in News: The National Medical Commission (NMC) issued notices on 26 July 2026 to 18 medical colleges in Madhya Pradesh for failing to implement a Health Management Information System (HMIS) compliant with the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM).

Background: The Commission’s review found that some colleges had no HMIS software at all, others had installed infrastructure that was non-functional, and several had registered incorrect Health Facility Registry (HFR) identifiers. Digital services such as Scan and Share and Health Record Link were either not working or not being used properly, and patient data was not being uploaded to the ABDM network even where the required infrastructure existed. The notice, signed by NMC Secretary Dr Raghav Langer, gives the institutions 15 days to rectify the deficiencies, failing which the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) may take further action including withdrawal of recognition. The institutions named span the government and private sectors and include Shyam Shah Medical College Rewa, the Government Medical Colleges at Sheopur, Chhindwara, Khandwa, Seoni, Shahdol and Neemuch, ESIC Medical College Indore, Sri Aurobindo Medical College Indore, RD Gardi Medical College Ujjain, Sukh Sagar Medical College Jabalpur, Gwalior Mental Hospital and the Bhopal Memorial Hospital and Research Centre. The NMC replaced the Medical Council of India under the National Medical Commission Act, 2019.

5. Third Week of July Lifts Rainfall, 41 Districts Still Below Normal

Why in News: As on 26 July 2026, Madhya Pradesh had recorded 13 inches of rainfall against a normal of 14.6 inches, a shortfall of about 11 per cent, even after the third week of July delivered 3.3 inches.

Background: The distribution is sharply uneven. Fourteen districts, including Bhopal and Indore, are above normal, while 41 of the state’s 55 districts remain below normal. Dewas leads the state at roughly 20 inches, while Alirajpur in the tribal belt of western Madhya Pradesh trails at nearly 4 inches, a gap that has hit kharif sowing in the deficit districts. The southwest monsoon entered Madhya Pradesh on 24 June 2026, nine days later than its normal date, and June closed about 30 per cent below normal. On 27 July 2026 the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a heavy rain alert for Umaria, Shahdol, Anuppur, Dindori, Mandla and Balaghat, with heavy to very heavy rainfall expected across parts of the state between 27 and 30 July as multiple weather systems remained active.

6. CM Joins 136th ‘Mann Ki Baat’ at Orchha as PM Praises Sidhi

Why in News: Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav listened to the 136th edition of the Prime Minister’s radio programme ‘Mann Ki Baat’ at Kanchana Ghat in Orchha, Niwari district, on 26 July 2026, in a broadcast in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised Sidhi district for water conservation through public participation.

Background: The Prime Minister linked the Sidhi example to the wider ‘Catch the Rain’ campaign, whose message is to conserve water where and when the rain falls. Madhya Pradesh has completed its Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan for a third consecutive year. In Sidhi district, 1,489 farm ponds were built and 12,983 water conservation structures completed, raising storage capacity from 1,35,73,874 cubic metres to 1,80,56,486 cubic metres, an addition of more than 44 lakh cubic metres. Fish farming is now practised in 211 of these ponds and water chestnut, or singhara, cultivation in 178, together generating roughly Rs 80 lakh in additional income for local households. Orchha stands on the Betwa river and was a Bundela capital, best known for the Ram Raja Temple where Lord Rama is worshipped as a king. Niwari, created in 2018, is one of the state’s newest districts.

Why in News: Ashok Barnwal took charge as the 36th Chief Secretary of Madhya Pradesh on 23 July 2026, an appointment that falls just outside this edition’s news window and is carried here as a continuing administrative development.

Background: Ashok Barnwal is a 1991-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Madhya Pradesh cadre and a Mining Engineering graduate. He was previously Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Medical Education, and also held charge of Bhopal Gas Tragedy Relief and Rehabilitation, with earlier service in the Chief Minister’s Secretariat under four Chief Ministers. Several outlets describe the appointment as officiating Chief Secretary while others report it as a full appointment to the post, so aspirants should note both usages. He succeeds Anurag Jain, a 1989-batch IAS officer of the Madhya Pradesh cadre, who served about 22 months as Chief Secretary and was appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NITI Aayog on 22 July 2026 for a term of two years by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC). The Chief Secretary is the administrative head of the state secretariat and the senior-most civil servant of the state government.
