I2U2 Grouping

I2U2 is a grouping of India, Israel, the United Arab Emirates and the United States, launched at its first leaders' summit on July 14, 2022. The name draws on the initials of the four members (India and Israel as the two I's, the UAE and the US as the two U's). It is a project-driven minilateral that identifies bankable initiatives in water, energy, transportation, space, health, food security and technology rather than acting as a formal security alliance.

Mains uses I2U2 to discuss minilateralism and West Asian economic diplomacy. Anchor: flagship projects include a UAE plan to invest around USD 2 billion in integrated food parks in India and a roughly 300 MW hybrid renewable energy project in Gujarat, with a joint Earth-observation satellite venture also announced.
