RRBs added about 54.98 lakh new PMJDY accounts. The meeting was attended by the NABARD Chairman, chairpersons of all 28 RRBs, and representatives of the RBI, SIDBI and sponsor banks.

RRBs were established under the Regional Rural Banks Act, 1976, following the Narasimham Working Group (1975). The first RRB, Prathama Bank, opened on October 2, 1975, which is before the Act, a detail that catches candidates out.
