On July 18, 2026, Hyderabad-based Skyroot Aerospace successfully launched Vikram-1, India’s first privately developed orbital-class rocket, from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC), Sriharikota. Vikram-1 uses three solid-fuel stages topped by a liquid-fuelled orbital-adjustment stage for precise insertion; solid stages offer high thrust, storability and relative simplicity, valuable traits for a young private launch provider.

The Payloads
