Positive Indigenisation List
"Government lists of defence items that can only be procured from domestic industry after set deadlines, to boost self-reliance."
A Positive Indigenisation List (PIL) is a notified list of defence equipment, systems, sub-systems, spares and components that the armed forces or Defence Public Sector Undertakings must procure only from Indian manufacturers after specified embargo dates. Two streams run in parallel: lists notified by the Department of Military Affairs for the services and lists notified by the Department of Defence Production (DDP) for DPSUs. The tool is central to the Aatmanirbhar Bharat push in defence and to cutting import dependence.
