Why in News: On 26 July 2026, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma chaired a review of the implementation status of the memoranda of understanding (MoUs) signed at the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit, and directed preparations for Pravasi Rajasthani Diwas on 10 December.

Why in News: Rajasthan’s monsoon peaked on 25 July 2026, when Mount Abu in Sirohi district recorded 195 mm of rain, the highest in the state that day, and then weakened by 26 July before a fresh spell forecast from 28 July 2026.

Radheshyam Sharma, Director of the Meteorological Centre, Jaipur, said a new low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal will move westward and reactivate the monsoon over eastern Rajasthan from 28 July, the monsoon trough having shifted southward. Distribution remains uneven, with roughly five districts above normal while about a dozen are still in deficit. Since 2 July, more than 40 previously dry dams have received water, and Morel Dam in Dausa district and Mansagar Dam in Tonk district have reached full capacity.

6. Former Masuda MLA Brahmdev Kumawat Dies at 66

Why in News: Brahmdev Kumawat, former Member of the Legislative Assembly from the Masuda constituency in Ajmer district, died of a heart attack on 27 July 2026 at the age of 66.

Background: Born on 30 November 1959 in Bandanwada village of Bhinay tehsil in Ajmer district, Kumawat was a businessman before entering electoral politics. He served a single term in the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly from 2008 to 2013. In the 2008 assembly election he contested as an Independent and won with 42,170 votes, defeating the official Indian National Congress nominee. He was subsequently appointed Parliamentary Secretary by the then Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. He contested the 2013 assembly election on an Indian National Congress ticket and was defeated. He was regarded as an influential figure in the Kumawat community of the Ajmer region.
