2. Jodhpur Mojari Craft Receives GI Tag
Why in News: The 200-year-old handcrafted Jodhpur Mojari footwear of the Marwar region has been granted a Geographical Indication (GI) tag by the Geographical Indications Registry, Chennai, giving legal protection to the traditional craft.
Background: The Jodhpur Mojari, also called Jodhpuri jutti, is a hand-stitched leather footwear tradition of the Marwar region that goes back roughly two centuries. The GI application, filed in 2021, was credited to the Jodhpur Handicrafts Exports Association together with Gram Vikas Seva Sansthan of Pipar City, and the craft has been registered under GI number 735. The livelihood footprint of the craft is large, supporting around 400 manufacturers, over 35,000 artisans and more than 5,000 households across Jodhpur. 3. Rajasthan First State to Sign Framework for Action with ISA
Why in News: Rajasthan has become the first Indian state to sign a Framework for Action with the International Solar Alliance (ISA), formalising a partnership to scale up solar deployment in the state.
Background: The International Solar Alliance is a treaty-based intergovernmental organisation, headquartered at Gurugram in Haryana, that was launched jointly by India and France in 2015 on the sidelines of the COP21 climate summit in Paris. Its founding purpose is to mobilise solar energy investment among sun-rich countries lying wholly or partly between the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn. 4. Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari Abhiyan 2.0 Accelerated
