Overview

Swadesh Darshan 2.0 (SD2.0) is a Central Sector Scheme of the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, representing a generational shift from the original Swadesh Darshan Scheme (2014-15). While the original scheme focused on theme-based tourism circuits, SD2.0 adopts a destination-centric and tourism-centric approach aimed at developing sustainable, responsible, and world-class tourism destinations. The scheme was revamped in 2022 with a focus on sustainability, digitalisation, skill development, MSME support, and effective destination management.

The Ministry of Tourism has notified 57 destinations across India for development under SD2.0, with 52 projects sanctioned for a total funding of ₹2,108.87 crore. The broader tourism sector received ₹2,541.06 crore in the Union Budget 2025-26, with additional focus on developing 50 top tourist destinations through a challenge mode in collaboration with State Governments.
