About the Index
The SDG Index is the centrepiece of the annual Sustainable Development Report, published by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN). The report provides a global assessment of how countries are progressing toward achieving all 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by UN member states in September 2015 under the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The SDG Index score ranges from 0 to 100, where 100 indicates full achievement of all 17 SDGs. Countries are assessed using a traffic-light dashboard system:
- Green — SDG achieved
- Yellow — challenges remain
- Orange — significant challenges
- Red — major challenges
The 2024 edition was written by independent experts at the SDG Transformation Center, an initiative of the SDSN, and was released ahead of the UN Summit of the Future.
